From HSG to the Heart of German Enterprise

Portamus was born at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland's premier business and technology institution. Our founding team brought together academic researchers and enterprise practitioners with a shared conviction: that the gap between business strategy and IT execution is the single biggest drag on organisational performance.

2011University of St. Gallen Foundation — Portamus origins established at HSG, combining academic research with enterprise IT consulting practice.
2012Cross-Industry Consulting Launch — Delivered parallel engagements across financial services, aviation safety, public administration, and manufacturing, covering ITIL-aligned ITSM process design, BPM architecture, SOA integration, release management, and architecture training.
2014International Healthcare Architecture — Served as interim Chief Architect on a major international healthcare programme, leading the ITSM and IT architecture for the consolidation of multiple hospital groups and critical health infrastructure.
2015Long-Term EA Engagement — Established an ongoing Enterprise Architecture Management practice for a major public administration, governing the alignment of hundreds of IT applications.
2018TOGAF® 9 Certified — Achieved TOGAF® 9 certification, reinforcing our structured EA methodology. Continued expanding across sectors including medical technology, financial services, and enterprise-scale digital transformation.

Managing Director

Marcel founded Portamus as an HSG spin‑off and has since led enterprise architecture and process‑management engagements for large enterprises and public administrations across Germany and Europe. As interim Chief Architect, he oversaw the consolidation of Singapore’s government data centres, which host critical health‑sector infrastructure. He holds a doctorate in information systems and has published extensively on software migration, enterprise modelling, and social‑CRM architecture.
